Vilas County Campgounds

Buckatabon Campsite-Canoeists traveling down the Wisconsin River often camp at this site after a day's travel. The site offers two canoe-accessable campsites with a picnic table, grills and a shelter. Canoeists will find the site where the Buckatabon aaRiver and Wisconsin River meet. Bicyclists can reach the site by taking Cty. K west of Conover to East Buckatabon Road, turning south and then turning east on county forest road after the Bucketabon River. Picnic table, picnic shelter, outhouses, tent sites.

Lake of the Woods Campsite-This walk-in campsite offers hikers angle-unit site with a picnic table and fire ring. From Conover, take Cty. K west two miles to Cty. S. Turn north on Cty. S and travel about one mile to Baker lake Road. Continue on this road to the western boundary of the county forest. Turn northeast on White Squaw Lake Road and continue north about three miles to the lake. Picnic table, tent site.

Razorback Road Campsite-For those touring the Wisconsin River by canoe, this single campsite offers a primitive wayside alnog the river, with a tent site and picnic table. Canoeists will find the site on the Wisconsin River, just south of the fork with Portage Creek. Bicyclists can take Hwy. 32/45 north of Conover to Rummel's Road, turn west and then turn north on Razorback Road.Picnic table, tent site.

 

River Road Campsite-This canoe-in camping area has two campsites with picnic tables, three grills and three fire rings. Canoeists will find this site on the Wisconsin River, south of the fork with Bucketabon River. Bicyclists can access the site by taking Hwy. 32/45 south of Conover Road and turning west. Outhouses, tent sites.

 

Rummels Road Campsite-This canoe-in camping area has two campsites, grills, a picnic table, shelter and fire ring. Canoeists will find the site in the Wisconsin River, just after it passes under Rummels Road. Bicyclists can access the site by taking Hwy. 32/45 north of Conover abd turning east on Rummels Road. Picnic table, picnic shelter, outhouses, tent sites.

 

Tamarack Springs Park-Popular with campers and trout fishers, this park provides access to Tamarack Creek. Seven campsites are offered, each with a picnic table and fire ring. From Conover, take Cty. K west about two miles to County S. Turn north and follow to the park, located on the north side of the creek. Picnic tables, outhouses, tent sites.
