Black Hawk Unit- Lower WI State Riverway-Size: 800 acres, all state owned.
Location: Hwy. 78, 6 miles north of Mazomanie, or 3 miles south of Sauk City on Hwy. 78.
Principal Wildlife: Deer, turkeys, squirrels, rabbits, song birds.
Other Recreation: Hiking, cross country skiing, birdwatching, historical site.

Location: From Beaver Dam, take Hwy. G north to Hwy. CC, then west on Hwy. CC 2 miles. Turn right on road immediately before railroad tracks.

Theresa Marsh Wildlife Area-Size: 5,499 acres, (5,263 owned, 236 leased).
Location: 30 miles north of Milwaukee on U.S. Hwy 41. Access on Hwys. D and 28. Refuges closed Sept. 1 - Dec. 31.
Principal Wildlife: Ducks, geese, deer, pheasants, rabbits, squirrels, great egrets, raptors, shorebirds, common terns.
Other Recreation: Wildlife viewing (especially along Hwy. 28 and marsh overlooks on Mowhawk Rd.), fishing, trapping, snowmobiling (only on designated trails) and hiking.

Other Recreation: Fishing, no boat launch available on state property.

Horicon Marsh Wildlife Area-Size: 11,009 acres, all state-owned.
Location: North of city of Horicon.
Principal Wildlife: Waterfowl, pheasants, furbearers, rabbits, deer, great egrets, great blue herons, cormorants, sandhill cranes, and many songbirds.
Other Recreation: Fishing, hiking, birdwatching, photography, canoeing. 1 1/2 miles of marked hiking trails. Four primitive boat landings available.

Location: 2 miles southwest of Fort Atkinson on Hwy. 26 to Old 26, then 1 mile on Old 26 to Koshkonong Mounds Road, then west 1/2 mile.
Principal Wildlife: Waterfowl, deer, turkeys, pheasants, grassland songbirds and sandhill cranes.

Location: 7 miles southeast of Burlington on Hwy. 142, or 8 miles west of I-94 on Hwy. 142.
Principal Wildlife: Pheasants, waterfowl, furbearers, rabbits, squirrels, grassland birds: bobolinks, eastern meadowlarks, savanna sparrows, grassland sparrows; great blue herons, green-backed herons, great egrets, blanding's turtles.

Campgrounds in Wisconsin are as varied as the areas around them--there are forests, prairies, lakes, rivers, hills, and valleys. You'll find campgrounds, trails, historic and archaeological sites, places for solitude and places for large group gatherings. There are also Campgrounds in county parks, state parks and national forests.

A typical campsite is in a natural setting with road access, a fire ring, and a picnic table, and can be used by either vehicle or tent campers. But there also are backpack, walk-in, and canoeing -in sites, sites with electrical hookups, and sites designed specifically for either tent or vehicle campers. Some sites are accessible for people with disabilities. Some are for people with horses. National Forest - The Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest is located in Wisconsin's Northwoods, covering over a million and a half acres. The Chequamegon side of the forest covers about 858,400 acres in Ashland, Bayfield, Sawyer, Price, Taylor, and Vilas counties while the Nicolet side covers nearly 661,400 acres in Florence, Forest, Langlade, Oconto, Oneida, and Vilas counties.
