Canoeing the Yellow River,
Dam to County H-Taylor County-16 miles.
This is an intimate and scenic stretcc
of river, with many riffles and rapids.Water
levels are best in spring. Put in
below the dam right behind Miller
Dam Resort.The river begins narrow
and winding with one riffle, Class
I rapids and rock ledge after another..
After Beaver Creek Drive bridge the
river widens. At 7.5 miles you approach
Gilman where there is a village park
and campground just below an old stone
building. Out of town you come across
a long series of Class I-II boulder
gardens extending for a mile. Quiet
deepwater follows then a series of
Class I rapids with several small
islands. Small rapids and riffles
are the norm until you take out downstream
left from the Hwy. H bridge.
