| The
crew stayed at "The Cabin"
near the Willow Flowage. We
had little trouble getting around
Minocqua.
But after that the trails were
nice. After we got through Hurley
the trails got wider
and
the ride was nice and smooth.
We arrived at our destination
in Silver City and checked in.
When
we got settled in we all got
set up in one room for some
"Mexican." The Judge
kept
a close watch over the game,
handing out numerous pealties.
Tomba had the most
violations
by far. Before the game ended
he was jumping from bed to bed
while doing
flips
over a table. He was feeling
very athletic at the time. After
a dip in the pool and sauna
we
headed for the dinner table.
Tomba made it to the table with
a plate of shrimp, but
was
experiencing great difficulty
with peeling them. He worked
so hard at it that he fell asleep
at
the plate. When we were finished
eating he was still out and
they were ready to turn the
lights out.
Someone
got the great idea of taking
some pictures. We have pictures
of Tomba with the
waitresses,
the cooks, people at the table
next to us, among others. He
never moved a muscle
for
all the pictures. I am trying
to locate this photos of Tomba
in rare form. I think he may
have slept
in
the bathroom for awhile.
On
the way back the next day Tom
encountered a slippery turn
and flipped his sled. The sled
suffered
a broken windshield. Tom suffered
a sore body. In Hurley we stopped
by a place called
Mr.
Nasty's to ask where we could
find a snowmobile dealer in
town. After a little bit of
a rest we got
a
different windshield put on.
Only about $70. Still a few
scars on this machine.
We
made it back to the cabin before
dark for some food.
That
night we took the loop to some
favorite watering holes. We
stopped at the Rustic Inn
and
Duke was a buddy of the owner.
The owner let Duke go into the
kitchen and get some
breaded
cauliflower for our breakfast
the next day. What a great guy.
Next we stopped
at
Mel and Rusty's on the Tomahawk
River. As we were filing in
somebody was already for Duke.
Seems
they thought he stole the gas
cap to their truck. Bob starightened
out the problem and
everything
worked out fine.
This
yearly trip is turning into
a tradition. |
