.The 9th annual trip started out fairly uneventful. McIver couldn't make it this year. We started out
from Valders, headed to our destination in the UP. A 5 hour drive turned into a 7 hour because
of bad road conditions. We were forced to take a detour north of Menominee. There was
a jacknifed semi on M-35 and the road was closed. After arriving in Munising and getting a few hours
sleep we were on the trails fairly early the next morning. The trails were in really great shape and with
a couple feet of snow, it was great for most of the day..........until the Arctic Cat developed problems.
We limped the last 25 miles to Paradise, nursing the bad clutch along. Ended up getting a clutch
and having installed in the time it took to have lunch at the Yukon Inn. Since we still had time
we decided to head up to Whitefish Point about a 40 mile round trip. We found out it was
longer than that. Very nice trails. Put on a little over 200 miles.
Had the usual game of "Mexican" with the "Judge" presiding over the affair.
Tomba had several penalties for several different infractions.
The next morning we started back to Munising. We stopped in Grand Marais for lunch.
The trails were in beautiful shape again, but they were more crowded than the previous day.
Made a stop at the Bear Trap on our way back.
