East
Arbutus County Park is located on
the shores of beautiful Lake Arbutus, which
is host to a variety of water-based recreation
including fishing, water-skiing, swimming
and pleasure boating.The
park has 153 campsites of which 110 have electricity.
Roughly half of the campsites are on the lake.
The park has showers, picnic and play areas,
a shelter building, boat launch, swimming
beach and two handicap accessible campsites.
None of the sites have water or sewer hookups,
but water is available throughout the park
and the park has its own dump station.The
“back forty” sites (sites 143a-153)
offer the off-road enthusiast access to hundreds
of miles of ATV/motorcycle trails in the County.
ATV’s and motorcycles are allowed direct
access to their campsites in this area. From
black River Falls take Hwy. 54 east six miles
to Cty. K Turn north and proceed eight miles
to Clay School Road. Turn east and go one
mile to the park.
Crawford
Hills County Park is located approximately
15 miles east of the City of Black River Falls
on Highway 54. The park offers the ATV and
Motorcycle enthusiast the opportunity to access
over 100 miles of combination ATV/motorcycle
trails.The park offers
25 rustic campsites. Facilities include water,
pit toilets, a shelter building and a loading
ramp for ATV’s.Campsites
are available on a first come-first serve
basis, and campers are advised to arrive early
to ensure a campsite on the weekends. A self-registration
box is located at the park entrance for payment
of park fees. The park is open all year. From
black River Falls take Hwy. 54 east 15 miles.
Merlin
Lambert County Park is located on
the shores of Potter’s Flowage, a lake
well known for its excellent fishing. The
lake has a healthy population of muskellunge,
Wisconsin’s premiere game fish. Other
species include pan fish and Largemouth Bass.The
park offers 30 rustic and wooded camp sites.
Many of the sites are on the lakeshore, with
direct boat access to the water. Facilities
include a boat launch, picnic area, pit toilets
and water.Campsites
are available on a first come-first serve
basis, and a self-registration box is located
at the entrance for payment of camping fees.
The campground is open all year. From Black
River Falls take Hwy. 54 east 20 miles to
McKenna Road. Turn south and continue four
miles.
Spaulding
Pond park-this park is used primarily
for summer swimming, though anglers do ocasionally
find some fish. Picnic tables and six rugged
campsites are available. From black River
Falls, travel 22 miles east on Hwy. 54. Picnic
tables, outhouses, tent sites, hiking, swimming.
The Wazee Lake Recreation
Area is Jackson County's newest and
largest County Park. The focal point of the
1300-acre recreation area is Wazee Lake. The
lake is 146 acres in size and is the clearest
and deepest inland lake in Wisconsin. It is
the former site of an iron mine. The park
also offers a beach, boat landing, and fishing.
Fifteen miles of hiking trail are available
for hiking. Twelve primitive campsites are
available. From Black River Falls take Hwy.
54 east six miles. Turn south on Brockway
Road and continue for four miles. Picnic tables
outhouses, tent sites, trailer sites, swimming,
beach, hiking, boat landing.
West
Arbutus County Park is also located
on the shores of Lake Arbutus. The park is
host to 44 campsites (36 electric and 8 non-electric).
The park has flush toilets, showers, a shelter
building, boat launch, playground and a swimming
beach. Many of the campsites are located on
the lakeshore. From Black River Falls take
Hwy. 12 north three miles, then turn east
onto Cty. E. Continue into the village of
Hatfield to Thunderbird Lane. Picnic tables,
outhouses, tent sites, trailer sites, swimming,
beach, hiking, playground, boat landing.
