Expert paddler Mike Svob
has been canoeing and kayaking the rivers of the Midwest for 30 years.
He paddled more than a thousand miles to complete these books. Below
are brief descriptions of the canoe trips that Mike goes into detail
with in his books with maps. The maps are very useful, showing rapids,
take in and take out points and other things of interest. |

Eau Claire
River-1-Marathon
and Langlade County-Hwy. 64 to the
Dells. 18 miles. Just past mile 9
are some beautiful formations of granite
and igneous rock. This section has
Class II and III rapids that should
only be attempted by experienced canoeists.
After the Hwy 52 brige there are several
Class I rapids. For water levels call
the Antigo DNR at 715-627-4317. Put
in at William Ackley historical marker
alonside Hwy. 64. Take out right upstream
from the dam alongside the Dells County
Park campground.

Eau
Claire River 2-Marathon
County-From the Dells to Club House
Rd.-10 miles. This part of the river
has several Class I and II rapids, then
it widens and turns nice and quiet.
Camping is available at Eau Claire Dells
County Park and Marathon County Park
in Wausau. Water levels are best in
spring. When water levels are high the
dells are very dangerous. Call the DNR
at Antigo for info. 715-727-4317. Put
in at the county park below the dells.
Take out at Club House Rd. Bride where
there is parking for a few cars.
