Canoeing the Bark River, Wisconsin

Originating at Bark lake, the Bark River twists for many miles toward the southwest, passing through farmland, marshes, hardwood forests, lakes and a couple of small communities before joining the Rock River at Fort Atkinson. The most popular canoeing stretch on the river is the final western leg from Prince's Point to Fort Atkinson, paddleable in one long trip or more sensibly in two leisurely day trips.

The book below will give you detailed info on canoeing 12 miles of the river from Princes Point to Fort Atkinson with detailed descriptions of the area, maps showing rapids, portages, nearby roads, take outs, etc.

Expert paddler Mike Svob has been canoeing and kayaking the rivers of the Midwest for 30 years. He paddled more than a thousand miles to complete these books. Below are brief descriptions of the canoe trips that Mike goes into detail with in his books with maps. The maps are very useful, showing rapids, take in and take out points and other things of interest.
