Amco
park-This natural
area on the Big Rib River is a nice spot to
picnic or fish. From Wausau, take Hwy. 29
west nine miles to Hwy. 107. Turn north and
go 10 miles to Cty. F Turn west and travel
seven miles to the park. Picnic tables, outhouses,
playground.
Big
Eau Pleine Park-This park covers
more than 2,000 acres of woodland pennisula
on the north shore of the Big Eau Pleine Reservoir.
Most of the land is undeveloped, supporting,
whitetail deer, black bear, raccoon and partridge.
Two campgrounds offer a total of 106 campsites.
Other facilities include three boat landings,
a swimming beach, nine miles of hiking and
biking trails. From Wausau, take Hwy. 51 south
12 miles to Hwy. 153. Turn west and travel
eight miles to Eau Pleine park Road. Turn
south and go 3 1/2 miles to the park entrance.

dressing rooms, hiking, nature trails, cross-country
skiing, playground, boat landing.
Big
Rapids Park-This park provides a
spot to swim, fish, and picnic on the Big
Eau Pleine River. From Wausau, take Hwy. 51
south three miles to Hwy. N. Turn west on
N and travel 23 miles to Hwy. 97. Turn south
and go four miles to Big Rapids Road. Turn
west and continue one mile to the park. Picnic
tables, picnic shelter, outhouses, swimming,
beach, dressing rooms, playground.
Bluegill
Bay park-This
96 acre park on Lake Wausau draws anglers,
boaters, and outdoors enthusiasts. From Wausau,
take hwy. 51 south two miles to Hwy. NN. Turn
east and go 1/4 mile to Hwy. N. Turn south
and go 1/2 mile to Oriole Lane, then travel
east 1/2 mile on Oriole to the park. Picnic
tables, picnic shelter, outhouse, hiking,
volleball, boat landing.
Cherokee
Park-Just upstream
from Big Rapids park, 69 acre Cherokee Park
provides opportunities to fish hike and picnic
under a reservable 1930's shelter. From Wausau,
take hwy. 51 south three miles to Cty. N,
then travel west on Cty. N 30 miles to the
park. Picnic tables, picnic shelter, outhouses,
hiking, playground.

Everest Park-Visitors who show up
on Wednesday or Sundays during the summer
might catch one of the local water ski shows
at this five acre park ohn Lake Wausau. In
Wausau take 3rd Ave. south of Thomas St. 1/2
mile to the park. Picnic tables, picnic shelter,
outhouses, hiking, boat landing.
Dells
of the Eau Claire Park-The
rock gorge carved by the continous rush of
the Eau Claire River ra[pids creates a wild
and scinic backdrop for camping, hiking and
picnicking. The campground has 26 sites, some
with electricity, and separate group sites.
A quiter stretch of river away from the rapids
and falls is used as a swimming area. From
Wausau, take Cty. Z east 14 mlies to Cty.
Y. Go north on Cty. Y 1 1/2 miles. Picnic
tables, picnic shelter, outhouses, tent sites,
trailer sites, swimming, beach, dressing rooms,
hiking, playground.
Marathon
Park-A forest
of white pine shelters the hiking trails and
35 unit campground at this 78 acre urban park.
In Wausau, take Hwy. 52 north to Exit Hwy.
52 east. Travel east on 52(Stewart Ave.) 1/4
mile to the park. Picnic tables, picnic shelter,
toilet, tent sites, trailer sites, hiking,
baseball, volleyball, tennis, playground.
Mission
Lake park-One
of the few natural lakes in Marathon County,
Mission lake draws the angler with its unpolluted
waters and populations of pan fish, bass,
northern pike and muskellunge. The park has
a sand beach for swimming, and a picnic area
overlooking the lake. From Wausau, take hwy
51 south 12 miles to Hwy. 153. Turn east and
travel 15 miles to Cty. Y. Turn north and
go one mile to Crooked lake Road. Turn east
and travel 1 1/2 miles to the park. Picnic
tables, picnic shelter, outhouses, swimming,
beach, dressing rooms, hiking, nature trails,
volleyball, playground, boat landing.
Rib
Falls Park-Picnickers,
hikers, and anglers will enjpy the small,
scenic falls at this 315 acre park on the
Big Rib River. From Wausau, take hwy. 29 west
13 miles to Cty. S. Go north on Cty. S two
miles to its intersection with Cty. U. Picnic
tables, picnic shelter, outhouses, hiking,
playground.
Sunny
Vale park-This
park's 284 acres located on Sunny Vale lake
just west of Wausau has a beach and picnic
facilities. In Wausau, take Stewart Ave. (Hwy.
29) west three mlies to 72nd Ave. Travel south
1/2 mile on 72nd Ave. to the park. Picnic
tables, picnic shelter, outhouses, swimming
beach, dressing rooms, hiking, volleyball.
